About me

Hello, I'm Deborah Byrd - a specialist dyslexia assessor with over 22 years of experience working in education and special needs. Throughout my career, I've been a primary school teacher, a Special Needs Co-Ordinator (SenCo), and a dedicated special needs teacher. These roles have given me deep insight into the learning barriers many children and young people face.

Helping learners become confident, successful readers is something I care deeply about. As a parent of a child with dyslexia, I understand the worry and frustration that can come with reading and spelling struggles.

I offer a range of services, from early screening and practical advice, to full diagnostic assessments. My approach is always collaborative: I'll work closely with you and your child to understand their unique strengths and challenges, so we can put the right support in place to help them thrive.

I hold a Level 7 qualification in Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia) and a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) through Patoss. I also stay up to date with the latest research and best practices through ongoing professional development.

If you're concerned about your child's learning, I'd love to chat and help you explore the best next steps. For your peace of mind, I'm fully DBS checked.
