About me

About me

My name is Deborah Byrd and I am a qualified dyslexia assessor with a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC) through Patoss. I also hold a Level 7 qualification in Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia).

I have been a teacher for over 22 years and a Senco for 9 of those years, which has given me an insight into the different barriers to learning that many children and young people face; difficulties that persist into adulthood.

I know what it is like to be worried about your child's struggles with reading and spelling. It was when my youngest child just wasn't progressing that I first became interested in dyslexia. It turned out that my instincts were correct and a full diagnostic assessment showed she had severe dyslexia, but was doing an excellent job of masking it at school.

I offer a range of services designed to support you or your child: from early screenings and advice, to full diagnostic assessments. Please get in touch with me to discuss your concerns, so we can plan the best steps to take. For your peace of mind, I am DBS checked.
